Essential Oils

Why I Started Using Essential Oils

I started using Essential Oils about one year ago. I had been fascinated with the idea of them for a little while and was very curious about how they would work. One of my first reasons to start using them was that I wanted to replace a lot of the chemical cleaners in my home with safer, natural options.   I had a new baby at home that we had just adopted (more on that in a later post).  There is something that happened to me when I adopted a baby, and I think this is because I wasn’t able to take care of her in my own womb make sure she was getting all the goodness to help her grow and develop, that I just couldn’t bear not giving her the absolute best and healthiest of everything I could possibly find.  The best baby bath products, the best formula, the best food, etc…  I wanted nothing to do with anything that could potentially be detrimental to her health.  The chemical cleaning products that I was spreading all over my home (and basically allowing my baby to roll around in!) also had to go.  There seemed to be about a million things that could easily be made using essential oils that would help me to do that.   Plus, let’s be honest, I thought all those little colored bottles were just stinking adorable!  I still feel like that.  Sometimes I just open up my oil cabinet and stare at them because they are just so cool (not to mention that cabinet smells DIVINE)!

I settled on Young Living because it seemed to be the best-of-the-best, and I ordered a Premium Starter Kit.   If you are interested in oils, the Premium Starter Kit is BY FAR the best way to get started.   You get a diffuser, various product samples and 11 oils to start off with!   If you were to try to order all of these things separately it would far exceed the cost of the kit.  Since then, I’ve added quite a few oils to my collection and have enjoyed using them all.  Please keep in mind that not all oils are created equal.  Some that you might buy at a health food store or online are often not 100% pure and have various added (often synthetic) ingredients that are NOT safe to breathe, ingest or otherwise.  That was another reason that I chose Young Living.  They handle the product from start to finish from farming the plants, to distillation, to bottling, and finally distribution and are guaranteed 100% pure therapeutic grade.

The first thing I did with my kit was to experiment with them in the diffuser.  I LOVED the way it made my home smell, and the fact that it was actually healthy to breathe was a huge bonus.  I have used them for fragrance, cleaning, to flavor my water and all kinds of health and beauty uses.  At this point, I can say that our home is probably about 80-90% chemical-free, but it’s still a work in progress.  Everything I have made with the oils has been so quick and easy.  In future posts I’ll be sharing my specific experiences with them and also some recipes that I have used.  In the meantime, if you want to learn more about Young Living Essential oils visit the website at https://www.youngliving.com/en_US .  If you would like to sign up as a distributor to get your own starter kit and order products at wholesale pricing, go to https://www.youngliving.com/vo/#/signup/new-start?sponsorid=3722529&enrollerid=3722529&isocountrycode=US&culture=en-US&type=member.  I also love to chat about them if you have any questions!  Happy Oiling 🙂
