Green Smoothie Recipe

I created a completely random, new green smoothie recipe today at lunch when I went home craving a smoothie. I knew I wanted something green, and just had to use whatever I could find to make that happen.  When I make new smoothies, I try to work in the same color family, or with items that have no competing color, in order to get that awesome shade of green (or orange or purple or whatever) that I am going for.   This also helps to keep it from turning that icky brown color halfway through drinking it (nobody look in my cup please – ewe!).  So today my smoothie included apple, kiwi, greek yogurt, spinach, avocado, and green superfood powder, and let me tell ya…..that sucker was GREEN!   I have to admit I was nervous to try it, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it tasted great!  So here is the recipe that I used:

1 apple – peeled and chopped

1 kiwi – peeled and chopped

1 large heaping spoon of plain, unsweetened greek yogurt (maybe 1/3 to 1/2 cup?)

1 scoop Amazing Grass green superfood powder

½ of an avocado

Handful of spinach

Unsweetened vanilla almond milk (6-8oz, to achieve desired consistency)

Dash of Stevia to taste

Handful of ice (could have added a frozen banana instead if I had one, then you could leave out the Stevia)

Blend until smooth

So, I will be having this one again for sure!
